Step 1: Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory

  • A Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory totals emissions from a defined geographic area in a given year. The largest contributors to GHG emissions in Andover are:

    Commercial buildings 41%
    Passenger cars 25%
    Residential buildings 25%.

Step 2: Climate Summit

  • Andover’s first Climate Summit was held April 2022. The summit brought together municipal officials, business leaders, students and climate action-focused residents. Together they shared ways to address climate change with a focus on more sustainable buildings.

Step 3: Climate Action Plan

  • Using the GHG emissions inventory and input from the Climate Summit, Andover developed a Climate Action and Sustainability Plan in 2023.

    The plan is Andover's custom roadmap to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

    The Climate Action Plan crystalizes what each resident and business can do and what their impact can be.
